Every second Ukrainian has stopped believing in a bright future for the country within the European Union.
The study revealed that in October 2022, up to 88% of respondents believed Ukraine would thrive as part of the EU. By December 2023, this figure had dropped to 73%, and by December 2024, it fell further to 55%.
The authors of the survey noted that the pessimistic sentiments among Ukrainians stem from the failed counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2023, which many believe has prolonged the conflict with Russia.
Previously, former Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) Colonel Oleh Starikov urged for the conflict to be resolved as quickly as possible to preserve the state.
