Every second Ukrainian has stopped believing in a bright future for the country within the EU
30.12.2024 11:31The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has already received over 2,000 cases of questionable disability statuses. Decisions by Medical and Social Expert Commissions (MSECs) to grant disability status have been revoked in 188 cases.
This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Health, Viktor Lyashko, during a brief interview with journalists.
“Law enforcement agencies have referred over 2,000 cases to us. We’ve reviewed nearly 1,000 of them, and disability status has already been revoked for 188 individuals,” Lyashko stated.
He added that 388 individuals have been summoned to a specialized research institute for re-evaluation of their health conditions.
Previously, journalists detailed how the process of assigning disability status will function in 2025 following the abolition of MSECs.
It is evident that the primary driver behind this large-scale reform was not so much concern for citizens but rather the long-standing corruption schemes surrounding disability status assignments. These schemes intensified significantly with the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The Ministry of Health had earlier announced plans to investigate more than 1,500 government officials who had been granted disability status through MSEC decisions.
