“Expansion of the war to the entire world”: in Hungary, permission for long-range strikes on Russia was linked to Trump’s victory

Budapest claims that by permitting long-range strikes on Russia, the “mainstream war parties in Washington and Brussels” are trying to disrupt a “new reality.”

This statement was made by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Facebook.

The diplomat associates the approval of Western-armed strikes deep into Russian territory with the electoral victories of Donald Trump and right-wing forces in Europe in the past year.

“It seems that pro-war forces, in their final disillusionment, are not shying away from the worst, namely the expansion of tvhe war in Ukraine to encompass the entire world,” he wrote.

Following Hungary, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico briefly commented on the matter and also condemned the granting of permission to Ukraine for long-range strikes on Russia. In a Facebook post, Fico stated that this “will derail peace talks and lead to escalation.”

“Those who support Biden’s decision support the beginning of a third world war,” said the prime minister in a video address.

It is worth recalling that yesterday, media outlets reported that outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden allowed the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use ATACMS long-range missiles with a range of 190 miles on the territory of the Kursk region. This decision was reportedly made in response to the involvement of North Korean military personnel. Officially, Washington has yet to confirm this information.
