Moscow has begun discussing the use of new weapons in response to long-range strikes on Russia

Moscow has announced the possibility of striking Ukraine with new weapons that have not previously been used in the conflict, in response to long-range strikes on Russia with Western long-range weapons.

This statement was made by the Chairman of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, in his Telegram channel.

According to him, if long-range strikes occur, “Russia will be forced to respond.”

“How this response will be delivered is a question for the Ministry of Defense. But it is clear that there will be a response! The use of long-range weapons will not change the situation on the battlefield but will worsen Ukraine’s fate and its future. The use of new weapons systems that the Russian Federation has not employed on Ukrainian territory is not excluded,” wrote the Speaker of the State Duma.

It is worth recalling that Russia previously altered its nuclear doctrine, now allowing for nuclear strikes in response to non-nuclear attacks on its territory involving Western countries.

Meanwhile, the White House continues to neither confirm nor deny reports of granting Ukraine permission for long-range missile strikes on Russian territory.

“The United States has consistently stated throughout the conflict that it will make political decisions based on the situation on the battlefield, including significant escalations related to the deployment of foreign forces on Russian territory in recent days and weeks,” said U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer.

Earlier, it was reported by media outlets that U.S. President Joe Biden had authorized strikes from Ukrainian territory deep into Russia using ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles.
