Former head of Ukraine’s State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, has been released from custody.
This was reported by journalist Oleh Novikov on his Telegram channel.
According to Novikov, bail was posted for Nasirov, and an electronic monitoring bracelet will be placed on him in the coming days.
Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC) took Nasirov into custody and increased his bail from 27 million UAH (≈€606,000) to 40 million UAH (≈€899,000).
The prosecutor alleged that Nasirov’s declared intent to join the military was strategic, as the statute of limitations for holding him criminally accountable expires in less than a year.
To recap In October 2022, Nasirov was officially charged in a high-profile corruption case involving a massive bribe. At the time, his pre-trial detention was set with a bail of 523.2 million UAH (≈€11.75 million). He spent almost two years in pre-trial detention, and was previously released on bail of 55 million UAH (≈€1.24 million).
