“Abandoning history has led Ukraine to lose economic benefits,” – says MP Dubinsky
10.05.2025 07:26Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico issued a sharp statement directed at EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.
His comments appeared on his official Facebook page.
“As a high-ranking official of the European Commission, you have absolutely no authority to criticize the sovereign prime minister of a sovereign country that adheres to a constructive approach toward the entire European agenda. First and foremost, I came to Moscow to pay tribute to the more than 60,000 Red Army soldiers who died liberating Slovakia,” Fico wrote.
He added that he disagrees with the “new Iron Curtain” policy that the EU is actively working to establish, and questioned:
“How can diplomacy and foreign policy be conducted if politicians are not allowed to meet and hold normal dialogue on issues where they disagree?”
Fico’s remarks were a direct response to Kaja Kallas, who had commented during a press conference in Lviv with EU foreign ministers:
“We are celebrating Europe Day in Europe, and I think it’s very symbolic that we are here. How can you stand in Moscow today? I can’t understand it,” Kallas said.
