10.04.2025 - 08:08Former head of Ukraine’s State Fiscal Service (SFS), Roman Nasirov, has joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during the stage of court debates in a criminal case being investigated by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).
This was reported by the civil society organization Transparency International Ukraine.
According to the organization, the statute of limitations in Nasirov’s case expires next year.
The court has postponed the proceedings to gather more information, with the next hearing scheduled for April 11.
Journalist Oleh Novikov reported that Nasirov has enlisted in one of Kyiv’s military brigades.
On April 10, the court was supposed to review the extension of the restrictions imposed on Nasirov. However, his lawyers have requested a halt in proceedings due to his mobilization.
To recall, in October 2022, Nasirov was officially notified of suspicion in a case involving a massive bribe. At the time, he was remanded in custody with bail set at 523.2 million UAH (about €11.5 million). Nasirov denied any wrongdoing.
In February 2023, the pre-trial investigation was completed, and three months later, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) decided to keep Nasirov in custody, but reduced the bail from 65 million UAH (€1.43 million) to 55 million UAH (€1.2 million).
In May 2023, after spending 20 months in pre-trial detention, Nasirov was released on bail of 55 million UAH (€1.2 million).
