Former military officials were stealing gas from main pipelines in the Kharkiv region

In the Kharkiv region, employees of the district territorial center of supply were stealing gas condensate from main pipelines, taking advantage of being able to move around during curfew hours.

This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office in the defense sector of the Eastern region.

The gang siphoned off gas condensate from main pipelines using special equipment, totaling 400,000 hryvnias (over 9,500 euros).

“The investigation has established that a former assistant shooter of a grenade launcher operator from the security department of one of the district territorial centers of supply in the Kharkiv region created an organized criminal group, taking on the role of organizer and leader. Former servicemen of this same territorial center of supply and social support joined the group,” the statement said.

According to the investigation, gang members took advantage of being able to move around during curfew hours.

The actions of the criminals could have led to fires, air pollution, and loss of life. They face up to 12 years in prison.
