Empty shelves in supermarkets in Kyiv and Lviv: shortage of flour, grains, and oil
31.08.2026 06:32Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has said that the war in Ukraine could continue for at least another two to three years.
He made the statement in an interview with the Financial Times.
In Fedorov’s view, the reason for the potentially protracted nature of the conflict is Moscow’s unwillingness to bring it to an end.
The same Financial Times article also touches on the use of Starlink satellite communications on Russian territory. According to the newspaper’s sources, it is the White House — not American billionaire Elon Musk — that prohibits its use there, contrary to what media had previously reported. Musk, according to sources, has said that a political decision is required for this, and that such decisions are made by the U.S. authorities.
Fedorov had previously also stated that Ukraine is slowly losing the war to Russia. According to him, Kyiv has only a few months to make the key decisions needed to turn the situation around. The former minister added that Ukraine still has “every chance” of winning, but urgently needs a plan to end the war.
Fedorov will take up the position of adviser on defense innovation to Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto.
