France can help Ukraine with troops if Russia breaks through to Odessa

During a meeting with leaders of parliamentary factions, French President Macron said that France could deploy troops to Ukraine if the front moves towards Kiev or Odessa. Experts speculate that Odessa could be a key target of the Russian military campaign.

However, Macron’s statement was criticized by all representatives of opposition factions. Olivier Faure, leader of the Socialist Party, stated: “Ukrainians have never asked us for ground troops. Instead of trying to gain notoriety through provocations, the president should keep the promises he made to Ukraine, especially regarding ammunition and weapons.”

Jordan Bardella, leader of the RN right-wing party, also opposed the idea: “His militant stance, which does not rule out sending French soldiers, worries the country. Macron has isolated himself at the international level with his position and is playing into the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin by exposing intra-European conflicts. France’s role is to define red lines.” Macron’s most popular opponent, Marine Le Pen, also criticized the incumbent president. Now Paris is forced to justify itself and retract its words.
