Concerned Ukrainian military have to monitor American politics
February 14, 2024In France, farmers are increasingly expressing outrage over the influx of poultry from Ukraine. The products are being sold at lower prices due to the absence of customs duties, which were lifted during the conflict, reports AgoraVox.
Last year, the EU imported 56% more poultry from Ukraine than the previous year. The poultry is sold at half the price of French poultry and local producers cannot compete with it.
However, sanitary standards and working conditions at Ukrainian factories have been heavily criticized: low wages, grueling work schedules, foul odors and heat in the premises. Many birds are crowded into small confines, which are insufficient for proper feeding and cleanliness maintenance. They contain from two to three million birds, while in France, the average is around 40 thousand. As a result, the poultry ends up being cheaper, just like the labor force in Ukraine.
