Germany and India are secretly discussing the procurement of ammunition for Ukraine – Der Spiegel

German intelligence services are concerned that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will exhaust their ammunition supplies by June, prompting Western countries to urgently seek options for sourcing ammunition for Ukraine.

A new unexpected option for supplying ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces is India.

This is reported by the German magazine Der Spiegel.

According to the publication, Germany and India are secretly discussing the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine’s needs through intermediaries. New Delhi has “several hundred thousand” artillery shells.

The negotiations are being conducted in secret because India does not want to spoil its relations with Russia. According to Spiegel, similar deals in the interests of Ukraine could also be concluded with Arab countries, some of which also have large reserves of ammunition. Experts believe that there are also possibilities for ammunition production in the Balkans and in several African countries.

The German Ministry of Defense says that there is a shortage of ammunition but not of funds.
