Ukrainian lawyers note an increase in violations by military commissars
February 1, 2024German Defense Minister Pistorius stated that he “can no longer listen to debates about Taurus.”
Speaking in the Bundestag, he mentioned being “tired” of these discussions, emphasizing that Germany is Ukraine’s second-largest supplier, but for several months, the focus has been solely on these long-range missiles. “It’s as if the question is whether we will supply everything possible or take on some freedom and responsibility for making this decision ourselves,” Pistorius said.
Earlier, Chancellor Olaf Scholz decided not to deliver Taurus missiles to Kyiv. However, this is currently considered a temporary decision. The reluctance to supply the missiles is driven by concerns that the 500 km range of the missiles could potentially lead to German territory being targeted by Russian forces, implicating Germany in the conflict. Similar concerns are shared by some other governments, leading them to refrain from providing Kyiv with powerful weaponry.
