German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said this after the Paris summit, according to the German tabloid Bild.
Merz added that the nature and scale of Germany’s support for Ukraine will be determined after a ceasefire begins. However, he promised that Germany would “continue to contribute — politically, financially, and also militarily.”
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, for her part, said she remains категорически (categorically) opposed to sending Italian troops to Ukraine.
At the same time, she said Rome supports other security guarantees for Kyiv.
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš also issued a statement after the Paris summit. He said the Czech Republic will not send its soldiers to Ukraine and will not supply ammunition to Kyiv at its own expense.
As a reminder, yesterday Ukraine, France, and the United Kingdom signed a declaration of intent on deploying multinational forces in Ukraine after the war ends.
