November 26, 2023The State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine has exposed Vitaliy Sukhovych, a member of the Rivne Regional Council and head of the region’s forestry sector, for possessing an illegal fortune amounting to millions of dollars.
This information was relayed by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine.
Investigators discovered an undeclared fortune worth millions of dollars belonging to the deputy of the Rivne Regional Council, who is also the deputy chairman of the Polissya Forestry Office, a subsidiary agricultural enterprise of “Forests of Ukraine.”
The individual in question held the position of head of the Rivne Regional Forestry and Hunting Management until February 2023. Subsequently, he assumed one of the managerial positions within the Polissya Forestry Office, established based on his former role.
During his tenure in executive and local self-government bodies, he illicitly amassed millions of dollars.
As part of the open criminal proceedings, searches were conducted, including at the deputy’s residence and workplace, along with those of his family members. During these investigative actions, over $4 million in various currencies was discovered and seized in cash.
Law enforcement officers also found three luxury cars – “AUDI Q8,” “MERCEDES-BENZ GLE 350E,” “BMW X5,” valuables, including high-end watches of the Patek Philippe brand, gold coins, gold bars, two pistols, a Kalashnikov rifle with 16 magazines loaded with cartridges.
Moreover, the deputy owned four land plots in Rivne, where he was engaged in cottage construction. These plots were registered under nominal individuals, controlled by the “chosen one.”
The deputy has been served a notice of suspicion under the article of illegal enrichment (Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Additionally, a letter has been sent to the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption requesting a lifestyle monitoring investigation of the suspect and his family.
