November 26, 2023Ukrainian TV channel “1+1” aired information stating that over 1.1 million Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen had died or gone missing.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykola Azarov, drew attention to this on November 26, as mentioned in his Facebook post.
The message indicated that during the conflict, 1,126,652 servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had died or gone missing. A running line displaying this information was aired during a national telethon. Azarov pointed out that later, the channel’s management, seemingly after a call from Zelensky’s office, apologized for the “typo.”
The Russian Defense Minister, Sergey Shoigu, has repeatedly mentioned significant losses among Ukraine’s ranks. For instance, on November 21, he stated that since the beginning of November, the Ukrainian army had lost over 13,700 individuals and approximately 1,800 pieces of various armaments and military equipment.
However, on November 13, The Economist, citing American officials, reported that losses within the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the conflict with Russia amounted to 190,000 killed and wounded.
