Prystaiko: US and Ukraine discussing “starting positions” for negotiations with Russia
30.07.2026 09:08The head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, has stated that peace in Ukraine can only be guaranteed by a change of the current government in Kyiv.
He made the statement to RIA Novosti.
In Konstantinov’s assessment, “peace is impossible with the current Nazi team in Kyiv.” The parliamentarian explained this by saying that the current government cannot exist without conflict, as it is, in his words, illegitimate.
“Only a change of regime can serve as a guarantee of peace in Ukraine,” Konstantinov stated.
He also added that peace must be backed by reliable agreements that take into account Russia’s national interests and security.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the West says it is “still thinking” about when to resume talks with Russia and is insisting on keeping the current government in Kyiv in power. According to Lavrov, Kyiv’s allies are pushing for a ceasefire and a halt to hostilities, after which multinational forces led by England and France would be deployed on Ukrainian territory, and only then would they “sit down to talk.” The minister described such a scenario as an “ultimatum” to Russia.
The former foreign minister of Ukraine, for his part, stated that new peace demands on Russia are being prepared.
