Ukraine will transition to winter time on the night of October 29th
October 27, 2023Hungary and Slovakia are opposing the European Union’s proposed 50 billion euro aid package for Ukraine.
This information reported by Politico, citing comments from a European diplomat.
According to the diplomat, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has stated that EU support for Ukraine “is not working,” while Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico cited “corruption problems in Ukraine.”
Since this issue involves changes to the EU budget, a unanimous vote is required. This means that both Orban and Fico could potentially block aid to Ukraine.
A decision on updating the EU budget should be reached by the end of the year, coinciding with the expiration of the previous funding allocated to Ukraine.
Recall that earlier, Viktor Orban stated that Hungary would block the allocation of additional funds from the EU budget to Ukraine until they see a clear justification for this measure, rather than just an offer to provide more money.
In turn, Slovakia’s new Prime Minister, Robert Fico, declared that Bratislava would not provide military assistance to Ukraine.
