October 27, 2023On the night of October 29, Ukraine will switch to winter time, with clocks being set back one hour at 4 a.m. Consequently, these 24 hours will automatically increase by one hour.
The transition between winter and summer time in Ukraine occurs on the last Sunday of October and the last Sunday of March. It’s worth noting that the practice of switching between summer and winter time in Ukraine is regulated by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution adopted in 1996. Before switching to winter time in October, Ukrainians will be living in the UTC+3 time zone (meaning they will have to wake up an hour earlier).
In 2021, there was a proposal in Ukraine to abandon the practice of switching the clocks twice a year, but the Ukrainian Parliament did not support the bill.
Currently, around 60 countries around the world continue to adjust their clocks forward and backward annually. Most of them are in Europe, while in some countries, like the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Australia, the time change is not observed across their entire territory.
