Trump’s son stated the need to support Russia
February 26, 2025Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will arrive in Washington on Friday, February 28, to sign a mineral resources agreement.
This was confirmed by U.S. President Donald Trump during a meeting with government officials at the White House.
“We are making good progress with Russia and Ukraine. President Zelensky is coming on Friday, and that is confirmed,” the U.S. president stated.
Trump also announced that the U.S. will reclaim the money it has provided to Ukraine.
“This deal will bring us great wealth. I don’t want to spend any more money on Ukraine,” Trump said.
Earlier today, the White House stated that the final text of the deal has not yet been agreed upon and questioned the necessity of Zelensky’s visit to the U.S.
Meanwhile, Zelensky emphasized the importance of the inclusion of security guarantees in the agreement on Ukraine’s mineral deposits.
It is worth noting that the phrase “security guarantees” does appear in the 10th clause of the agreement. However, it does not indicate that the U.S. is willing to provide them. The text only states that “the U.S. government supports Ukraine’s efforts to obtain the security guarantees necessary to establish lasting peace.”
Overall, the version of the draft agreement published today in Ukraine is very vague and does not align with the idea of the U.S. reclaiming the aid already provided to Ukraine, which Trump had emphasized.
