November 17, 2023In the coming year, there might be a possible 15% increase in electricity tariffs for the population in Ukraine.
This information was conveyed by Valeriy Tarasyuk, the head of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities.
“As of January 1, we are obligated to make calculations. I believe we will propose some solutions. The move should be measured, a maximum of 15%. This would lead us to around 3 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour,” Tarasyuk stated.
To recall, the current tariff stands at 2.64 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Minister of Social Policy, Oksana Zholnovich, mentioned that authorities are discussing an increase in the gas and electricity tariffs, despite the existing moratorium during the war.
The demand to raise prices for gas and electricity (more precisely, to align them with the “market level”) is outlined in a letter sent by the United States to Kyiv.
At the same time, surveys have shown that Ukrainians consider high tariffs as one of the primary issues.
