28.10.2024 18:44Next year, electricity rates are expected to increase by 1.5 times, reaching around 7 hryvnias (€0.16) per kilowatt-hour, up from the current rate of 4.32 hryvnias (€0.09) per kilowatt-hour.
This forecast was provided by Oleg Popenko, Chairman of the Consumer Union of Utility Services.
He also stated that the cost of gas will gradually increase each year, eventually reaching 18,000-20,000 hryvnias (€403-447) per thousand cubic meters (currently priced at 7,990 hryvnias, or €179).
Popenko reminded that these rate increases are outlined in the new memorandum with the IMF.
Currently, a moratorium is in place on raising tariffs for gas, hot water, and heating; however, this does not apply to electricity and cold water.
Previously, Member of Parliament Volodymyr Moroz mentioned that electricity prices could rise to 6-7 hryvnias (€0.13-0.16) per kilowatt-hour for households and up to 11-12 hryvnias (€0.25-0.27) for businesses. He suggested that the tariff increase would likely be gradual.
