According to preliminary reports, an unidentified man jumped into a stranger’s car, pulled out a grenade and demanded to be driven to the border with Belarus. After the driver refused, the man detonated the grenade, but the driver managed to escape and avoid the explosion. Photos show a man’s body in the passenger seat.

The Kyiv region police confirmed that a man detonated a grenade in a car in Bucha, demanding that the driver take him to the border with Belarus.

“According to preliminary information, an unknown man got into the car of a 59-year-old KIA driver and, threatening with a grenade, demanded to be taken to the border with a neighboring state. The driver managed to leave the car, and the unknown man detonated the explosive. The man died on the spot. The driver was not injured,” the police statement said.

The day before, in Kyiv, a man threw a grenade into his brother’s apartment due to a dispute over the apartment. The man was detained and he was previously convicted of murder. Preliminary reports suggest that the motive for his action was a conflict between the brothers over the division of a shared apartment.
