UK aims to aid Ukraine in facing Russia independently if Trump returns to power
January 2, 2024Measures for mobilization are being intensified in Chernivtsi Oblast. This comes from decisions made by the Regional Defense Council, signed by Governor Roman Zaparaniuk. The document itself has been published by local public sources.
The decision involves the deployment of ‘notification areas’ across the entire region (presumably for distributing conscription notices) and mobile checkpoints. There will be monitoring of individuals starting or leaving jobs (notably, many men currently ask their employers to dismiss them to avoid conscription and work unofficially.) Furthermore, the monitoring of medical examination deadlines to prevent delays and instructions to mayors and village heads to prevent leaks of information about planned measures by the Regional Military Commissariat.
Previously, a controversial bill was discussed in Ukraine aimed at toughening measures for mobilizing the male population. The law has not yet been passed by parliament, but measures to prevent men from leaving the country and to track them down have already been intensified at the government’s directive.
