“A deal with the devil”: a political analyst spoke about the mobilization of women in Ukraine
06.04.2026 06:31Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev’s statement that Moscow should reconsider its position on the accession of neighboring countries to the European Union has become a signal to Ukraine and Europe.
This is according to the German publication Junge Welt.
“Russia appears to have fundamentally revised its assessment of the EU,” the article says.
In the view of the journalists, Medvedev’s remarks indicate that even after the end of the special military operation, Russia will continue to regard Ukraine as an important military factor with potential influence on Europe.
On April 3, Medvedev said that it is time for Russia to abandon its tolerant attitude toward the accession of neighboring countries to the European Union, including Ukraine. The deputy head of the Security Council noted that, amid contradictions within NATO, Brussels is seriously considering the creation of a full-fledged military component within the EU. According to him, this changes the global picture, because the European Union is no longer merely an economic bloc and could soon turn into a full-fledged military alliance that is extremely hostile to Russia.
Earlier, the European Commissioner said that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union by 2027 is impossible.
