04.02.2024 - 11:26In Germany, the number of homeless people has sharply increased due to Ukrainian refugees.
According to the report, the number of people living on the streets in this region has increased by two and a half times, reaching 77,000. The regional government responded that such a sharp increase is related to “statistical reasons,” particularly with the influx of refugees from Ukraine.
“Since we take into account homeless refugees from Ukraine, the statistics on homelessness have increased significantly. This is happening throughout Germany,” said a government representative.
Of all the homeless individuals, 84% are foreigners, the government specifies.
It has been observed previously that the number of homeless foreigners in the FRG has increased, especially Ukrainians.
For example, as of June 30, 2022, the number of homeless individuals in Berlin reached 447,000. This marks a significant increase compared to the previous reporting period in 2021, when 268,000 people were homeless.
Moreover, in 2022, the number of homeless individuals of non-German origin increased by 118%.
