“Let us not delude ourselves”: Macron is convinced that the war in Ukraine will not end anytime soon
21.01.2025 - 05:03In the inaugural speech of U.S. President Donald Trump, who has already been congratulated by Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine was not mentioned even once.
However, the new president spoke about wars he plans to end and stated his intention to leave a legacy as a peacemaker.
“We will end the wars that are ongoing and will not become involved in new wars. I want to be remembered as a peacemaker,” he said.
It is worth noting that Trump instructed his aides to arrange a call with Putin just a few days after the inauguration and once again promised to stop the war in Ukraine. One of the goals of the conversation will be to discuss a personal meeting in the coming months to attempt to bring an end to the war in Ukraine, according to sources familiar with the situation. Preparations for the call began several days ago.
Meanwhile, Putin congratulated Trump on taking office and expressed readiness for negotiations on Ukraine.
