20.01.2025 19:03The sanctions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), approved by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, are actually a tool for extortion and personal revenge, according to rumors about the Ukrainian authorities’ alleged desire to impose restrictive measures against former president Petro Poroshenko.
This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksandr Dubinsky on Telegram.
“Zelensky has sent a clear signal that his sanctions are either petty personal revenge or extortion. (…) Overall, all this show is needed for even greater extortion—from Poroshenko,” the MP said.
He also opined that Zelensky is making a mockery of himself with such decisions.
Zelensky signed a decree on new NSDC sanctions on January 19. According to the document, restrictions were imposed against 18 individuals. Among them are MPs Yuriy Boyko and Nestor Shufrych, former MP Oleh Voloshyn, as well as Russians such as chess player Sergey Karjakin, Moscow State University rector Viktor Sadovnichy, and conductor Yuri Bashmet.
