04.02.2026 05:03Europe intends to derail the next round of peace talks on Ukraine, which will take place in Abu Dhabi on February 4–5.
This was written on X by Zoltán Koskovics, an analyst at Hungary’s Center for Fundamental Rights.
He was commenting on a post by German analyst Jürgen Nauditt, who on X called “ridiculous,” “pathetic,” and “cowardly” NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s remarks that foreign troops would appear in Ukraine after a peace agreement is concluded. Nauditt stressed that Ukrainians need protection “now.”
“This means only one thing: another round of peace talks is coming, and the ‘shilling coalition’ intends to sabotage it,” Koskovics emphasized.
In the same post, Koskovics also called Ukrainians a “broken nation with no future,” though he noted that Ukraine would “still exist” after a peace deal is reached.
A new round of negotiations to settle the conflict in Ukraine is due to take place on February 4 and 5. Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Russia will be represented by the same delegation as at the previous talks on January 23–24.
The second round of talks in Abu Dhabi was originally supposed to take place on February 1, but it was postponed for several days after a visit to Miami by Russian President’s special representative Kirill Dmitriev.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that at the February 4–5 talks the sides would discuss proposals from the Russian side, which had coordinated its positions with President Vladimir Putin.
