In Kharkiv, an employee of the district territorial recruitment center demanded a bribe from a restaurant, threatening to mobilize its workers and patrons. He has been charged under articles related to extortion and receiving improper benefits as a public official.

This was reported by the regional military commissariat on Facebook.

According to the investigation, in early June, the military commissar demanded a bribe from the managers of a Kharkiv bar-restaurant. For $1,500 USD and a personal card with a permanent discount on services, he promised not to interfere with the establishment’s operations and not to mobilize its employees and patrons. He also promised to provide the restaurant staff with fake documents that would guarantee them a deferment from mobilization.

The suspect was caught red-handed receiving part of the bribe in the form of a discount card in exchange for the fake documents. He has been placed under arrest as a preventive measure. The military commissar has also been suspended from his duties.
