October 22, 2023Tonight in Kyiv, a driver of a Honda vehicle collided with a military serviceman at a checkpoint, resulting in the soldier’s death on the spot.
This information was reported by the Kyiv police.
The incident occurred around 00:30 (Kyiv enforces a curfew from 00:00 to 05:00). The driver was traveling on Brovarsky Avenue and suddenly braked due to fog to avoid colliding with a truck in front of him. In doing so, he veered onto the far-right lane where the checkpoint was located, striking a soldier born in 1976. The soldier succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver has been apprehended, and no signs of intoxication were detected. Additionally, the city police reported that the driver was driving in the city without the necessary permit.
At the time of the accident, it was already half past midnight, which means that the curfew was in effect. The spokesperson for the Kyiv police, Yulia Girdvilis, believes that the man was in a hurry as he wanted to pass through Kyiv quickly due to the curfew.
