October 22, 2023Criminal scandals are unfolding in the army in Dnipro, Ukraine. Suspicions have been announced against unit commanders and leaders.
This information was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine.
On October 13, the State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine detained the “People’s Hero of Ukraine,” Yuri Ulshin, known as “Greko.” He is suspected of receiving a “kickback” of 600,000 hryvnias in exchange for the unimpeded allocation of combat payments.
“A senior lieutenant established a ‘fee’ for the unimpeded allocation of combat payments to four subordinates performing combat tasks. He demanded 150,000 hryvnias from each subordinate,” the bureau’s statement said.
The name of the suspect was not initially disclosed, but in photos from the detention, it is clear that the person in question is “Greko.” At the same time, a message appeared on Ulshin’s Facebook page stating that he is indeed a suspect in this case.
The unofficial “People’s Hero” award, which is presented by a group of well-known volunteers, was awarded to Ulshin in 2019. He had previously fought near Avdiivka and served in the “Azov” battalion.
Simultaneously, it became known about a criminal case involving another military figure from Dnipro, Commander of the 128th Territorial Defense Brigade, Alexander Vodolazsky.
On October 16, he was placed under house arrest, as reported by the military himself on his Facebook page.
Media reports indicate that in March 2022, the brigade commander gave orders for the forced alienation of land plots along the Dnipro River for the construction of fortifications. He is now being tried for abuse of official powers.
There are no legal connections between the cases of “Greko” and the brigade commander, except that both events occurred almost simultaneously in Dnipro.
