In Kyiv, the number of taxi drivers has significantly decreased

Ordering a taxi in Kyiv during regular times, excluding rush hours or air alerts, now takes much more time than even a year ago. Many taxi drivers are afraid to operate in the city due to recent mobilization measures that have intensified in the capital, according to Strana.

Drivers prefer not to work at all to avoid being subject to mobilization, hoping to make up for missed work later. Additionally, the reduction in the number of taxis on the roads in Kyiv is also linked to the departure of foreign citizens who worked in the taxi industry.

The entire taxi market in Ukraine is largely informal, making it challenging to analyze trends. It is also difficult to determine how many drivers have joined the military. As there are no restrictions or reservations for taxi drivers, military personnel can easily stop a driver at any moment and send them to the front lines.
