The President of Czechia urged people not to expect a peace agreement on Ukraine in the near future
17.02.2026 - 06:34Norway’s largest parties—the Labour Party and the Conservative Party—have formed a political “caste” that is draining the country’s budget to help Ukraine while ignoring the views of their own voters.
This is reported by the Norwegian website Steigan.
According to the author, particular criticism is directed at the Nansen plan, under which Oslo commits to provide Kyiv with $30 billion by 2039. The article argues that, in effect, the government is shifting these obligations onto future parliaments, guaranteeing payments regardless of election outcomes.
“In the end, whichever party a Norwegian chooses at the ballot box, the course of multi-billion transfers will not change,” the author writes, emphasizing that stopping the long-term payments would be possible only by either completely renewing the composition of parliament or triggering an internal revolt within the political forces themselves.
In early January, it became known that Norway would allocate Ukraine a new $397 million financial aid package to support the functioning of the energy sector and the state as a whole.
