October 30, 2024The Kyiv District Court of Odessa fined a local employee of the Territorial Recruitment Center 80,000 UAH for demanding $4,000 from a man in exchange for not issuing him a military summons.
The verdict was issued on October 22 and published in Ukraine’s Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
According to case materials, on May 29, the recruitment officer approached a citizen to check his military records and demanded $4,000 to avoid taking “mobilization actions,” specifically, not to issue a summons.
On June 6, the recruitment officer arranged a phone meeting with the man in a park to collect part of the payment—$1,000. The bribe was handed over on June 11, after which law enforcement detained the recruitment center employee.
The court fined him and banned him from holding positions within military administration bodies for two years.
Previously, media reported that in the Cherkasy region, a State Emergency Service employee was caught accepting a bribe, promising a man a position with an exemption from mobilization in exchange for payment.
