Russia has claimed that France is allegedly preparing a military contingent for deployment to Ukraine, with approximately two thousand people set to be sent first.

This was reported by the Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin.

He stated that if the French troops are deployed to Ukraine, they will be targeted as “legitimate and priority targets.”

Both France and Ukraine have not confirmed this information.

Earlier, the French government reiterated that President Emmanuel Macron did not propose sending troops to Ukraine for combat operations. He mentioned “schemes or routes for military presence for demining and for training Ukrainian soldiers on Ukrainian soil.”
