In Scotland, the Head of Edinburgh City Council is suspected of harassing Ukrainian refugees

The head of the Edinburgh City Council has been suspended from his duties following allegations of harassment toward Ukrainian women who fled the war.

This was reported by The Times.

The official, named Cammy Day, was known for regularly attending pro-Ukrainian rallies and picketing the Russian consulate. However, several Ukrainian refugees later accused him of persistently sending them flirtatious and sexually suggestive messages, as well as inviting them on dates.

“A senior Labour Party politician bombarded Ukrainian refugees on social media with messages about their sexual preferences, attempted to arrange dates, and complimented their appearance,” the report stated.

The women said they didn’t know how to respond to such attention, given that it came from an official.

It is currently unclear whether Day met with any of the refugees. The police are investigating the incident.

Previously, a German official was sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually harassing children of Ukrainian refugees under the threat of deportation.
