On October 31, the dismantling of the remaining part of the bust of the Russian writer Alexander Pushkin was completed in Zaporizhia.
According to Suspilne, the decision to dismantle the monument was made by the executive committee No. 593 on October 26, 2023, and the city council granted permission for the removal of the A.S. Pushkin monument to the Alexandrovsky district.
Zaporizhia historian Valeriy Stoychev noted that this monument was removed from the square as part of the decommunization process.
The monument to Alexander Pushkin was installed in Zaporizhia in the late 1990s “in recognition of the great poet’s presence on Zaporizhia’s land in May 1820.”
