February 15, 2024Fuel prices in Ukraine may increase by another 2 hryvnias (0.05 euros) per liter in the near future.
This was announced by the director of the consulting company “A-95,” Sergey Kuyun.
The price increase is related to attacks by Yemeni Houthi rebels on civilian ships in the Red Sea, which has caused the procurement cost of fuel to rise: from $77 per barrel at the beginning of the year to $83 per barrel now.
“We see that for the past couple of weeks, the economy segment networks have started to raise prices by 20-50 kopecks every day. There are no grounds to speak of a tragedy yet, but within the range of two hryvnias per liter, the price may increase within 2-3 weeks,” the expert said.
It is worth recalling that back in mid-January, the Bloomberg agency reported that the hostilities in the Red Sea were beginning to disrupt global logistics. Thus, in certain regions, there are already problems with food supplies, and there is a threat of price increases for a number of products in Europe.
