March 7, 2024In the Sumy region, a man has been sentenced to three years in prison for evading mobilization. During the trial, he stated that he supports his underage wife.
This was reported by Ukrainian journalists with reference to the verdict of the Trostianetsky District Court of the Sumy region.
The suspect is married and works as a day laborer for a private entrepreneur. He was found fit for military service and on December 22, 2023, he was handed a “combat summons” to report for mobilization service. However, the man did not appear at the territorial recruitment center.
During the trial, the man confirmed that he did not go to the military enlistment office on December 29 because he did not want to serve in the army. He requested that his underage wife, who is studying at a vocational school, be taken into account, and expressed fear of leaving her alone.
The court found the man guilty under Article 336 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to three years in prison.
Earlier, a resident of the Khmelnytskyi region filed a lawsuit against Russia and Ukraine over the war.
