December 22, 2023In January, Ukraine will introduce a draft law regarding the mobilization of men residing abroad.
This information announced by Vadim Ivchenko, a member of the Defense Committee in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
“People abroad will undergo the same procedures as Ukrainians within the country. This means they’ll need to undergo identification. If you go through this process and are on the list for mobilization, you’ll receive a summons. Then it’s your choice – either you return back or you stay there, and that would be a violation of the law,” stated Ivchenko.
Previously, Mikhail Podolyak, an advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine, suggested the idea of withdrawing allowances and residence permits from Ukrainian men abroad to encourage their return to Ukraine to participate in the conflict.
