Abolition of live queue: Ukrainians abroad will be able to apply for a passport only by electronic appointment
15.04.2024 21:37In Ukraine, one conscripted citizen costs the state budget a minimum of 1.3 million hryvnias (almost 31 thousand euros) per year. Of this amount, 40% is allocated for wages and payments to military personnel.
This was reported by Oleg Pendzin, the director of the Economic Discussion Club.
According to Pendzin, this is only an average figure, as expenses for those on the front lines may increase. In addition to wages, expenses include food, basic equipment, weapons, and ammunition.
The actual number of conscripted citizens at the moment is 1 million 100 thousand people.
Pendzin also noted that even in the event of death or disability, the state remains obligated to them. Thus, the total expenses for conscripted citizens amount to 1 trillion 700 billion hryvnias (approximately 40 billion 507 million 246 thousand 031 euros) per year.
Taking into account these expenses, Pendzin emphasized that all social expenditures, support for businesses, subsidies, and contributions to the pension fund are made through borrowing.
It is noted that mandatory payments of 15 billion hryvnias (approximately 35 million 741 thousand 688 euros) will also increase the financial burden. According to these calculations, even mobilizing an additional 100 thousand people will require 130 billion hryvnias (approximately 3 billion 097 million 612 thousand 932 euros) per year.
It is worth recalling that Member of Parliament Sergey Demchenko stated that the initiators of the resolution on additional payments for soldiers on the front lines were indeed representatives of all political parties in the Verkhovna Rada. The relevant resolution was passed by a majority vote, obliging the government to accept it.
