There’s a growing trend of misappropriation of state funds for non-essential expenditures in Ukraine. This has provoked public outcry, especially considering the country’s financial constraints that have led to inadequate funding for education and healthcare.
The reconstruction of the building at 11 Sviatoshynska Street in Vyshneve, initially constructed in 1968 as a cinema, is set for completion by the end of 2024. The planned alterations include converting it into a multi-floor public facility featuring an industrial facade with transparent panels. The revamped space will house a civil defense shelter capable of accommodating 250 individuals, an administrative services hub, administrative offices for local government bodies, a council chamber and an exhibition museum hall.
Furthermore, during the construction phase, journalists uncovered instances of inflated pricing across various categories. The projected excess payments are estimated at around 5 million UAH. This sum could have been utilized to repair the roofs of three kindergartens within the Vyshneve community. While a group of citizens has lodged a complaint with the State Audit Service, their appeal has been overlooked.
