11.02.2025 12:40A protest is taking place outside the Kryvyi Rih Thermal Power Plant in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Residents of the city, who have been without heating since the start of winter, have gathered to demand action.
Videos of the demonstration are being shared by local Telegram channels.
Protesters have also blocked the road leading to the Kryvyi Rih District Power Station (KRES), demanding a meeting with the company’s director.
According to reports, around 600 residential buildings remain without heating.
Meanwhile, yesterday marked the ninth emergency meeting of the operational headquarters for eliminating the consequences of heating system failures in Kryvyi Rih. During the meeting, officials discussed the heating crisis and confirmed that due to technical damage to one of the boiler stations, temperatures in more than 600 buildings remain below the required standard. Repair teams continue working on-site.
Following the meeting, officials decided not to cut power in three districts where the heating situation remains unstable. Additionally, residents will not be charged for heating until the supply is fully restored.
At the same time, city authorities, along with the thermal power station, are developing a detailed plan for modernizing the heating network. The state energy company Naftogaz plans to allocate about 1 billion hryvnias for these upgrades.
Earlier, media reports stated that at least one hospitalization due to hypothermia had already occurred in Kryvyi Rih.
Experts warn that many Ukrainian cities may face a heating collapse, similar to what is currently happening in Kryvyi Rih.
