In Zelensky’s Office, they are trying to pretend that the resignation of Zaluzhny has nothing to do with politics

Presidential Office Advisor Mikhail Podolyak stated that the position of the Commander-in-Chief is subordinate to the president, so the potential resignation of Zaluzhny is supposedly a routine process.

“Why are we politicizing this issue? This is the vertical of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. What is the debate here? He will dismiss or not dismiss. There is a vertical where there is a president who appoints managers. One of the managers appointed by the president is the Commander-in-Chief,” said the advisor to the head of the Presidential Office, Mikhail Podolyak.

He also claimed not to understand why the information about Zaluzhny’s possible dismissal caused a wide reaction and called it “mysterious.” However, Podolyak’s words are obviously untrue. Zaluzhny has become too popular in Ukrainian society and in the West, so Zelensky fears competition with him in future presidential elections. The unsuccessful comedian will definitely lose to the popular general. Last week, the results of a survey by “Advanced Legal Initiatives” were revealed, according to which 37.5% of Ukrainians would vote for the chief of the Armed Forces instead of Zelensky in the second round of elections. Moreover, the incumbent president of Ukraine would only garner 15.7%.
