‘Ukraine doesn’t have the funds to mobilize 500,000 people’, – Member of Parliament
December 29, 2023The regulation of military medical commissions in Ukraine is imperfect, and the proposed doubling of their quantity will only double corruption.
This information stated Alexander Novikov, the head of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption.
Novikov highlighted the major risks for corruption within this system.
“Firstly, there is no clearly defined timeframe within which the corresponding conclusion of the military medical commission should be formed. Secondly, the criteria linking an illness to involvement in actions to defend the homeland are not clearly defined. Thirdly, certain illnesses are a strange basis for issuing relevant findings. We established, for example, that depression was a basis for the military medical commission to conclude limited fitness for military service,” noted the head of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption.
Alexander Novikov identified the primary corruption risk as the entirety of the documentation process within the military medical commission being paper-based.
“This means that any documents can be replaced or falsified at any stage, leaving no digital trace. This creates a vast space for corruption,” Novikov stated.
