At present, Ukraine lacks the funds to mobilize 500,000 individuals.
This information stated by Ukrainian Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
According to him, the country’s budget for the war in 2024 amounts to 1.6 trillion hryvnias, whereas in 2023, it was 1.9 trillion hryvnias.
“In other words, there isn’t enough money for the current size and needs of the army. If we want to increase personnel by 500,000, it would require an additional 580 billion. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to find such funds,” said Zheleznyak.
He also reminded that Ukraine finances its military expenses independently, except for a small tranche from Norway.
