In Ukrainian schools, children will be taught to operate drones
February 29, 2024The leader of the Republicans and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, stated that his position on assisting Ukraine remains unchanged. First, the United States must ensure security at its southern border, and only then can assistance to Ukraine be discussed, according to Fox News.
During the meeting at the White House, Johnson faced pressure from three other congressional leaders and the president himself. According to the Speaker, before providing security for another country’s border or funding its priorities, the United States must address the crisis at its southern border—and until then, there will be no talk of assistance to Ukraine.
As noted by the publication, Johnson himself, who met with Biden one-on-one after the unsuccessful discussion, described his position as “frank and honest” and expressed hope for a prompt resolution to the issue. However, in a statement made on Wednesday, the Speaker made it clear that despite a strong desire to address the problem, he left the meeting with the same priorities he came with.
