Republicans called on the US government to stop escalating the conflict with Russia
September 29, 2023The President of Kazakhstan announced this after a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
“Kazakhstan has clearly stated that it will follow the sanctions regime. We have contacts with relevant organizations. It seems to me that there should be no concerns on the German side regarding any actions aimed at circumventing the sanctions regime,” Tokayev said.
In addition, the President of Kazakhstan emphasized that he favors an immediate cessation of hostilities between Russia and Ukraine and the start of peace negotiations.
“We need to stop mutual accusations and negotiate to find options that suit both sides,” he said.
At the same time, Tokayev added that there are no territorial disputes between Kazakhstan and Russia.
“The border [between Russia and Kazakhstan] was at one time delimited and largely demarcated, confirmed and ratified by the parliaments of the two countries. Therefore, we do not have any concerns regarding territorial claims on the part of Russia. We maintain regular friendly contacts on a bilateral basis,” he said.
