11.06.2026 08:01Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine have failed and that there are currently no opportunities for a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
He made the statement in an interview with the France24 television channel.
According to Kuleba, Trump “does not appear ready to change his approach to Russia,” and until that happens, the situation will remain “in limbo, where the Russians will be unhappy with Trump because he is not putting enough pressure on Ukraine.”
“U.S. President Donald Trump’s attempts to end this war have failed. His approach is not working. Not a single political leader of Ukraine will ever sign a document stating that Ukraine is ceding occupied territories to Russia,” Kuleba said.
The former minister also stressed that Ukraine will not agree to Moscow’s demand for the cession of Donbas, since “trust in Russia is zero.” He also noted that “no one will dare” to exclude the United States from the negotiation process.
Against the backdrop of these statements, diplomatic activity continues. On June 11, Bloomberg reported that European leaders at the G7 summit are hoping to secure Trump’s support for talks on Ukraine involving Moscow, Kyiv, Brussels, and Washington.
On June 9, U.S. envoy Dan Negrea stated that Washington is urging Russia and Ukraine to immediately agree on a comprehensive ceasefire and is insisting that the conflict can only end through negotiations. On June 10, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said he does not seek the role of EU negotiator with Russia, pointing to the existence of “more serious players.”
In June, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany called for EU and U.S. participation in talks on Ukraine, and also declared the need to establish a ceasefire along the front line, provide Ukraine with security guarantees, and deploy foreign troops on its territory.
